Padron 1926 No.35 Natural

Cigar Details

Wrapper: Nicaraguan
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan

In the fall of 2011 I started working for Nat Sherman. Two months in and Cigar Aficionado had a festival called the Big Smoke. The festival had taken place for years in Big Hotels which at the time allowed smoking. This year it was out of Pier 92 and Padron needed some muscle to help distribute their cigars through out the fest. Rudy Padron “The Nephew of the family” ran the booth with Jorge Padron “The Face of the family”. While we worked for 4 hours I probably smoked 3 No.35 1926 Natural cigars. I kept thinking “man this is really good, I don’t want this taste to end”. Sure enough at the height of the process I’d finish the cigar. Chasing that same taste I’d light another and start the process all over. Small in stature its a slow smoking cigar with just enough ring gage to produce thick smoke and tight ash.

We had a blast man. I have some funny stories about a couple snatching cigars out of my hand and walking away.

After the Event Rudy gave us each a Black bag of Cigars and later sent me a signed Box of the 1926 No. 35 Natural. This cigar we’re smoking is one of them.

In this episode we talk about Brugal 1888, the Padron Family, small cigars, shorter formats, dog walker, anatomy of a cigar, aging a cigar, stories of Big Smoke, layers to the taste, palette, salivation, geography of growing tobacco, pairing a spirit with a cigar and ProCigar Festival.

If there are words or terms that you’re unfamiliar within this episode, we highly recommend you check out the Sunday Cigar Glossary.
