New York Said

Amon Focus is the founder and creative force behind New York Said: a global documentary initiative with a mission to capture and preserve the world’s social commentary hidden in plain sight.

New York Said interviews have included the likes of American cartoonist, Bob Mankoff of Esquire, Pulitzer Prize-winning art critic, Jerry Saltz, The International Center of Photography’s Curator-at-Large Isolde Brielmaier, famed photographer, Jay Maisel, documentary and street style photographer, Jamel Shabazz, and visual artist Shantell Martin.

Amon has worked as a Creative Producer on numerous tourism productions with Miles Partnership, Macy’s, and San Francisco Travel to name a few. A skilled photographer, Amon captures and documents the ever changing landscape of New York City.

Both his photography and film projects have been featured in multiple venues throughout New York City. Project highlights include an archival screening of his film: The Last Interview of Arturo Vega at the Howl! Happening Gallery, shooting for New York Fashion Week, and capturing The Whitney Biennial.

Pulsing through Amon’s DNA is an ever-present current of wanderlust which continues to inspire his creative efforts in film and photojournalism internationally and within the United States. Amon’s creative partnerships include work with Kimpton Ink48 Boutique Hotel, Rene Mantilla Chapeau, and COARSE Restaurant Group. Often tapped to share his insights and experiences with audiences throughout New York, Amon has spoken at Hetrick-Martin Institute, Southeast Queens Camera Club, and the New York Film Academy.
